Saraí Humble

Well Restoration & Map Maker

Land of Ériu (Ireland)

"Is Fúdracha mé agus is Bean Feasa mé: I am of the landless and through this I have become a woman of knowledge."

As Saraí journeys through the land of the Emerald Isle she connects in with the ancient wells of Ireland, repairing, restructuring and cleaning as she goes. Her life is nomadic and dedicated to restoring Irish culture through the water. Holy and sacred wells in Ireland are still revered mostly through the Catholic faith yet carry echoes of our pagan rituals, which gives people an opportunity to connect with the wild. They are still spaces to gather in reverence, holding the memories of our ancestors as well as the emotional wellbeing of our present community.

Clearing and cleaning the wells is the most effective way of clearing our people of the horrors and cultural displacement we have endured. Saraí holds the belief that all Irish are indigenous they have just been convinced that they don’t exist. She aims to gather people under the categories of our past; land, water, law, inspiration and trees.

Running as quick as a hare and apprenticeship-ing to the Cailleach, she gathers all people, hoping that if we use a common language we can begin to affect real change for the positive on our beautiful land.

Saraí is the keeper of All is Well, a coordinator of Suil an Craic - the well walkers of Ireland and founding member of the new Fairy Council of Ireland dedicated to renewal of traditional ways to tend the land, forests and waterways.
