Speaking to the Water. Becoming the Voice for the Water.

Telling stories about all the ways the Water is important to us, has impacted who we are, what we do, and teaches us the value of life.

Speaking to the Water with Pat McCabe

How to tap into the magic and mystery of water. A powerful story from Pat McCabe, a Navajo and Lakota activist.

Grandmother Josephine Mandamin

Since 2003, Grandmother Josephine Mandamin walked the shores of Great Lakes as a ceremony of care. She has inspired a continental network of water-walkers with every step also being a prayer to honour the waters, the creator, and generations from the past, present, and future.

Why Pilgrimage?

“Walking the waters of our region, wherever we are, is a necessary action that broadens our connection to the social and geographical reality with the people, land, and water that we share; and is especially crucial in these times of climate crisis. The more we walk, the more we will know how to act on behalf of the water, of life, of this planet.” - Emily Coralyne, Agua é Vida - A Water Pilgrimage in Portugal

Why Women?

“The water of Mother Earth, she carries life to us, and as women we carry life through our bodies. We as women are life-givers, protectors of the water, and that’s why we are very inclined to give mother earth the respect that she needs for the water.” — Grandmother Josephine Mandamin.
