RIGHTS of NATURE
Rights of Nature acknowledges that Nature in all its life forms has the right to exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles.
We acknowledge that humans are nature, that all life is interconnected, that rights of nature principles are deeply aligned with Indigenous worldviews and are rooted in long standing land practices, water heritage, cosmologies and traditions of any culture.
OUR STORY
Building on decades of work by communities, individuals and groups like the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN), Stop Ecocide International, and International Rights of Rivers, on MARCH 25th a coalition of Rights of Nature and Rights of Rivers advocates gathered together to discuss a Rights of Nature European Citizens Initiative. Starting in autumn 2026, we will collect one million signatures to bring this demand before the European Commission and shift the foundation of Europe’s environmental law.
